SAP has announced an extension of maintenance for the Business Suite 7 family of applications, known in the market as ECC, until the end of 2027, thereby extending the deadline initially set for 2025 by two years.
In addition to the two extra years of normal, or mainstream, maintenance, the company has also committed to maintaining extended maintenance until the end of 2030.
The new deadlines apply to SAP ERP 6.0, SAP Customer Relationship Management 7.0, SAP Supply Chain Management 7.0 (known as SAP ECC), as well as versions running on Hana of SAP Supplier Relationship Management 7.0 and SAP Business Suite powered by SAP Hana.
In addition, SAP also said it will continue to maintain S/4 Hana until 2040, a long-term commitment.
“In response to this and our users’ demand for choice, SAP will offer additional flexibility to fully leverage the opportunities of S/4 Hana in a way that reflects the individual pace and complexity of our users’ projects,” says Christian Klein, co-CEO of SAP.
Extending support was the first major decision announced by Klein, who, together with Jennifer Morgan, took over leadership of SAP in October last year following the departure of Bill McDermott.
